Recently, the Bonner County Daily Bee gave me (inadvertently) sole credit for the "impeccable condition" of the Pine Street Athletic Field. I would be remiss if I didn't give a shout out to four gentlemen who are jointly responsible for the fields.

Sandpoint High School's assistant softball coach, Gary Circo, and I do the "dirt and details" of the softball and baseball fields at Pine Street. Three Lake Pend Oreille School District employees  â€” Heath Beason, Butch Brackett and Dan Best — do everything else.

They are responsible for mowing the infield and outfield grass, dealing with any irrigation issues, controlling pest and fungus infestations, fertilizing, aerating, de-thatching and weed control. Baseball and softball are team sports, and in Sandpoint, so is the maintenance of Pine Street Athletic Field. I am honored to be the same team with these four gentlemen.
