In response to the Eric Keil letter (Daily Bee, June 29): Perhaps he forgot about the activities leading up to 1776 which involved resistance and revolution of the colonies against the British empire.

Free speech and protest is currently allowed in the USA and often involves thoughts and ideas contrary to others’ viewpoints or beliefs. America is losing its status as the world leader with the actions, tweets and character of our current president. Perhaps if he spent more time and focus on his job rather than tweeting lies or alternative facts or crude comments toward people, the USA would retain its status, as it was prior to 2017, the greatest country on earth which I feel is being lost by a politically inexperienced and immature man.
