Dallas was born on Jan. 7, 1937, in Williston, N.D. He was the youngest of the seven children of Loretta and Brooks Dawson.
His father died of pneumonia from working in the coal mines of Montana when Dallas was just 2 years old. The family ended up moving to Clagstone, Idaho, in 1945. Then, in 1948, the family moved on the 80 acres of land in Sagle on Garfield Bay Road where Dallas lived until he passed away.
Dallas was well known as a great boxer. He has fights all over the country, including New York and Boston.
He graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1956 and eventually joined the U.S. Army where he boxed all over Europe.
After the Army he owned the husky gas station on Fifth Avenue in Sandpoint where he met his wife Patricia Anne Cullison. They had four children, Lisa Marie, Darla Dee, Shanda Dawn and Michael Richard. They had seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dallas joined the iron workers union in 1969 and worked on many large construction jobs in the North-west, including Grand Coulee Dam and the Hanford nuclear power plants.
Dallas loved children of all ages and enjoyed animals. After he retired he spent time cutting firewood and picking huckleberries.
He will be greatly missed.
