SKåL Tap Room celebrates opening

| July 19, 2017 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce welcomed SKåL Tap Room to the chamber with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 22.

Pronounced “skol,” and meaning cheers in Norweigan, SKåL Tap Room was opened in January 2017 by Svein Nostahl and Lisa Campbell. The tap room is located right next to Sandpoint Sports in Ponderay on Highway 95, the store Svein has owned and operated for 19 years.

Nostahl always enjoys a beer after a hard bike ride and had seen the concept of bikes and beers combined in Seattle and Portland and knew it would do well here in Sandpoint. With her 28 years of service experience in the airline industry, Campbell gives people an enjoyable experience while serving them a beer.

They currently have four beers and two ciders on tap, including Norse Nectar and Mountain Hop IPA from Slate Creek Brewing Company, Trashy Blonde from Iron Goat Brewery in Spokane, and Sin Tax from Mother Earth brewery in California. SKåL Tap Room also has a variety of wines and some food on the menu, including lox and bagels and smoked salmon from Flying Fish Co. They also stock take-and-bake meals from the Pack River General Store.

SKåL Tap Room has a cozy environment and a relaxing outdoor patio area. They have been hosting an open mic night on Wednesday nights from 5 p.m. until close and will be starting game days on Thursdays with a variety of outdoor activities.

“We are happy to host meetings for small groups under 20 and birthday parties for adults, of course,” Campbell said.

Since they are a Specialized dealer, Sundays are Super Summer Specialized Sundays, if you ride a specialized bike into the taproom you’ll receive $3 drafts and on 10 percent off all accessories and clothing in Sandpoint Sports.

The tap room is open 1-10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, 1-6 p.m. Sundays and 12-6 p.m. on Tuesdays.
