| July 25, 2017 1:00 AM

Nominations are open for outstanding lifetime achievement in the fields of Idaho recreation and tourism. Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter will select a nominated individual for recognition who has made significant contributions to developing, managing or conserving Idaho’s recreation resources, or developing, managing or promoting tourism in Idaho. The award will be presented in October during the Idaho State Conference on Recreation and Tourism in Coeur d’Alene.

The annual conference is sponsored by tourism-related organizations and partners to provide an industry forum for public, private and non-profit travel professionals throughout Idaho. This year’s conference will be held Oct. 17-19 at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn.

Nominations for the 2017 Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be accepted through Monday, September 11. Contact Laurie McConnell at 208.287.0781 or visit the Idaho Department of Commerce website to download a nomination form.

Tourism consistently ranks within the top five industries in Idaho and continues to grow. Idaho lodging tax collections are up 12.42 percent over fiscal 2016, with total collections of $11.2 million.
