Here we go again.
I’ve owned property on Lake Pend Oreille for more than 10 years and my taxes remind me of that every year. Yet, here we are again in the middle of June and the lake is still 2 feet below full pool. It seems to get later and later every year and there is always an excuse.
For those of us who have fixed docks, we may get to use them for about 2 1/2 or 3 months.
When is someone going to be honest enough to tell us that the No. 1 priority for determining lake levels is not fish habitat or flood control. It’s Avista’s need for electrical power.
Do you really think that the millions of dollars they donate to support programs related to the lake is given from the goodness of their heart and they expect nothing in return?
By the way, they’ve just requested another rate increase. Maybe it will be late July next year before the lake is full.
