The new traffic pattern downtown is dangerous. Especially dangerous and confusing are the uniquely designed intersections at Bridge and N. First Avenue and at Church Street.
In the short time this new traffic pattern has existed, I’ve seen numerous dangerous interactions on N. First Avenue at these two intersections. Toss in a few pedestrians at the crosswalks and it really gets to be “interesting.” It seems to me that the new traffic control signage is confusing at best and dangerous as currently configured. I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.
Maybe we need a new look at the existing multiple “yield” signs or at least ask for additional informational signage for drivers in each direction, especially regarding turning vehicles?
Perhaps “The Bee” can sort this all out for us and have the Idaho Transportation Department or the Idaho State Police explain the applicable rules and you could publish a nice graphic or two as examples?
