Thirty-three years ago, my husband Jim and I relocated our family to Sandpoint, Idaho, wishing for a quality life. We often spoke of our town as being “a slice of heaven.” Fresh air, clean water, mountains, lakes, rivers and an admirable school system. The perfect place to raise our family.
Twenty-seven years have passed since I began working as a physical education/health specialist for the Lake Pend Oreille School District. Tami Gunter, our music specialist and I shared a closet office. I with a few baseball bats and basketballs, she with some sheet music. Through support from our community, school district and grants, our programs have blossomed and now thrive. The success we have experienced is multiply echoed within the borders of Lake Pend Oreille School District.
Appreciative I am of the vibrant energy our town collectively generates on a daily basis across many walks of life.
Thank you Sandpoint for dreaming big. I, for one, am a proud citizen. Please vote on Tuesday, March 14.
