Our children are our greatest asset. Let us protect their future, as well as that of our community and nation by providing them with the tools they need to succeed in an ever-changing environment.

Teachers, district administrators, and the Lake Pend Oreille School Board are all working tirelessly to do just that in an atmosphere of uncertainty. Many of the classes and extracurricular activities that uniquely address the knowledge and skills so necessary for students to become independent, well-rounded individuals depend solely on community support of a supplemental levy every two years.

It has been pointed out in numerous letters by other authors that the state of Idaho supports only a portion of the necessary funds to operate our school district in its current form. This current, well-run school district, is doing an exceptional job with our tax dollars, educating our youth so they are confident and competent as they leave us and enter the workforce. Our community will continue to thrive as businesses move into the area, knowing that we support our levies and our children.

I ask you to please vote yes on March 14 to let our kids and our teachers know, loud and clear, that they are supported and appreciated.
