'Novel' fundraiser aids library transformation

| March 4, 2017 12:00 AM

As promised, today’s column will announce the upcoming event, A Novel Night – A Rotary Gala Benefiting the Library Transformation. The Rotary Club of Sandpoint has selected the East Bonner County Library District to be the recipient of the proceeds of their 2017 fundraising event. In line with their focus on literacy and teens, the club will sponsor the Teen Lounge in the expanded Sandpoint Library.

A Novel Night is a gala catered by Tango Cafe with live and silent auctions, a renowned author guest speaker, live entertainment and DJ music for dancing. What makes this gala unique is its theme. Attendees are invited to dress or accessorize as their favorite book character and the literary theme will be woven throughout publicity and décor.

Another unusual feature is that over 30 nonprofit organizations are taking part in supporting the event. Included in the selection of live auction items are baskets donated by local organizations designed to feature a theme that tells their story. Other community members are invited to participate as event sponsors.

The event takes place on Saturday, May 6, at 5 p.m. in the Columbia Bank Center. Tickets will go on sale next week.
