The LPOSD supplemental levy being voted on March 14 is crucial for funding 1/3 of all full-time staff, academic curriculum, extracurricular activities, and materials needed for a well-rounded and effective education for the young people in our community.
As a graduate of Sandpoint High School, I can attest that the education and experiences provided have had a profound impact on many lives. Due to the caliber of education I received, I was prepared to continue my education, assume the role as a leader in my new community, and to meet challenges and solve problems in the real world. By being exposed to several different classes, clubs, sports, and activities offered, I have grown into who I am today. Whether it was running cross country, singing in a choir, or learning technical skills in elective courses, I was given opportunities to expand my horizons and become a well-rounded individual. I hope to someday return the community that gave me so much, and give back, because I know firsthand what it provides. It is utterly disappointing that there are those that deny the importance of a quality education, and would vote against a levy that is crucial to offering important opportunities for students and pay a full array of dedicated educators. Education is an investment that pays back to the continual growth of a prosperous and successful community. If you want to help support and make this growth possible, please vote yes for the levy.
