Sandpoint is blessed with dedicated, caring, and inspiring teachers. I know from experience. Since graduating from SHS in 2003, three of my classmates have gone on to excel at some of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions, another started a technology company that was eventually acquired by Google, and two more are acclaimed authors. Countless others are serving this and other communities as entrepreneurs, professionals, and loving parents, working to make the world a better place.

Each of these success stories was made possible by inspirational teachers in the LPOSD.

These examples illustrate the effects of strong schools on our society, and they help inspire the next generation of Bonner County students to reach for the stars.

It is widely recognized that those who do not graduate high school are more likely to commit crimes, have chronic health issues, and die prematurely when compared to those with higher education levels. This levy will ensure that children in Bonner County continue to receive the solid education it takes to meet their full potential in today’s economy.

While not as immediately tangible as a cut to property taxes, strong schools improve our economy through recruitment of employers and high-paying jobs to the area. They also help our bottom line by reducing spending on health care, welfare, and public safety. Please join me in supporting the levy and a continued investment in the future of our community.
