This is a letter to every one of my former students, ages 18 and above living in the Lake Pend Oreille School District.
Each time we’ve crossed paths, it warms my heart and makes my day. You’ve become the citizens who make our wonderful community function, whatever your occupation — self-employed, public servant, IT, employer or employee, mom or dad, medical field, law enforcement; quite a variety and all so vital. I hope that you plan to vote yes for the supplemental levy Tuesday, March 14, or you’ve sent in your absentee ballot.
If you don’t think your vote has much of an effect, please reflect back on your life as a student in our school system. Perhaps you were involved in a sport, a club, band or one of the choirs. Did you enjoy science experiments, library privileges, tech lab, plays, or mechanics? Maybe some class project, novel, outdoor activity, or even an educator sparked your interest in what you do as an adult today. Your fond memories will not be possible for present students if this levy doesn’t pass.
Please follow the life guides we continually shared in class:
- Be resourceful: If you need facts about the levy, call the district office, 263-2184 or go online: lpsod.org/board-of-trustees/supplemental-levy.
- Be responsible: To find out your precinct polling place, visit idahovotes.gov or call the election office, 255-3631. You can also vote at the election office located in the Bonner County Administration Building, 1500 Highway 2, through this Friday. Please vote.Thank you.
