Don’t let the facts get in the way of a nicely contrived story. Questions that caused two combined LPOSD executive salaries ($250,000) unease.

One: LPOSD states they’re “making $600,000 in budget cuts.” Given LPOSD’s additional $4.5million (FY2016-FY2018), is “budget cuts” better worded as allocation choices? “We chose cut as that’s what resonates … that’s what people understand.” LPOSD offer’s another campaign of fear and belittlement to its “customers.”

Two: LPOSD represents having 861 W-2 employees, yet when adjusting for 150 dedicated employees (50 nutrition, 50 Title I, II & 16 and 45 transportation ) and double counting of 2016 W-2 employees (97), only 620 employees are covered by general or supplemental levy funding, thus one-third affected by reduction if force is 207, not 300? LPOSD’s non-answer … “the point is we’re the largest employer, we’re an economic engine here.” When the taxing entity (LPOSD) is the economic engine, drawing sustenance off the tax-paying host, one could define that as a parasitic attitude and/or relationship.

Three: Is it fair to say that money does not drive results? Woodward, “sure, more school dollar spending doesn’t always equate to increased scores …, I’m confident that this increase will increase student learning.” LPOSD measures learning by scores when convenient, and by spending otherwise.

LPOSD’s achievements came in the environment of less dollar-funding, how much of any $4.5M increase is enough? False “employee” head count, spending “cuts,” and, radio and print media providing the collusion, is wrong. Vote AGAINST, March 14 , (reject and replace) in May.
