Three steps to crush your goals

| March 15, 2017 1:00 AM

Are you crushing your goals? Here’s what I’ve seen over the last 10 years in my coaching business. We set a health goal, we change a few things that we are eating and we start exercising. We don’t see instant results and then we throw up our hands in frustration and quit.

Sounds familiar right?

It shouldn’t really be that hard. It always looks so simple on the magazine covers, the TV commercials and the latest fitness gadget promising amazing changes.

Often what we fail to recognize is the time it really takes to change bad habits and see and feel the results you are looking for. I always tell my clients that it is necessary for them to step out of their comfort zone and do something else, stay consistent and trust the process. It’s not realistic to lose 20 pounds in two weeks in time for Doro-thy’s wedding.

Here’s a suggestion that you may wish to consider. Instead of an “all or nothing” approach, focus on one simple change each week. A simple change that would be totally achievable and you would feel a sense of accomplishment and a new mini-goal would be conquered. How amazing would that feel for you?

A few examples might include: Drink more water. Decrease sugar intake. Eat some green vegetables every day for dinner.

Those are simple, yet attainable goals that won’t make you crazy and want to pull your hair out.

My top three steps to crush your goals today are:

- Set a goal and write it down.

- Tell someone your goal and ask for their support.

- Get a sensible plan that will help you reach your goals.

Before you know it, you will be crushing your goals and setting new ones.
