Time running out to enter Bee Final Four Challenge

| March 15, 2017 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Unlike the Bee Super Bowl Challenge, where you can procrastinate for nearly two weeks before making your pick, the Bee Final Four Challenge affords you just three days to winnow a field of 68 teams down to just one.

Not surprisingly, a number of the early entries have the Zags in the Final Four, which unlike past years, is hardly a stretch. With four excellent bigs and four top notch and lengthy guards, the Zags boast one of the best eight man rotations in the Big Dance.

Of course, the pundits are now saying they don’t have any wings, you know, those athletic 6-7 types so many other teams load up with. But they get paid to dissect weakness, even when they know darn the well the Zags don’t really have any.

The Zags have one other component that every championship team must have: A guy who can take the rock in crunch time and deliver in Nigel Williams-Goss. Mark Few said earlier in the season he’s the best leader he’s ever seen, and that is saying something.

According to Vegas odds, Williams-Goss is a 15/1 shot to win Most Outstanding Player. Not a bad bet, as he’s going to have the ball in his hands in crunch time, and you know there will be plenty of crunch time. Justin Jackson of UNC is 11/1, Frank Mason III of Kansas is 12/1 and UCLA’s Lonzo Ball and Oregon’s Dillon Brooks are each 14/1 to win the award.

Think you know who will cut down the nets? Want to win $75 in cash? Then take the free Bee Final Four Challenge.

To enter, email your Final Four teams, along with the final two and championship game score to “eplummer@bonnercountydailybee.com.” The deadline to enter is 10 a.m. on Thursday, so act quickly.

The Bee will publish weekly updates on the leaders as the brackets go from 68 to 32 to 16 to 8 to 4.

Enjoy the madness.
