Football officials' training planned in Coeur d'Alene

| March 18, 2017 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Due to the demand for regional high school and youth football officials, the North Idaho Officials Association is offering a series of football officiating training sessions for 2017, and is hoping to draw some potential officials from the Sandpoint area.

The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the Best Western Plus/Coeur d’Alene Inn. This meeting is for everyone from brand new officials, to officials with up to two years experience.

There will be one evening training session per month, starting with the first meeting on March 22, and then culminating with an indoor/outdoor clinic in June. These meetings are designed to start with the football officiating basics, then advance upward with each additional meeting.

These meetings are highly interactive, and will include video and printed training manuals. Mentors include current NCAA FCS officials from the Pac 12 and Big Sky and the District 1 high school mentor team.
