Republican women's group holds spring meeting

The Idaho Capitol was invaded by red-jacketed women as the Idaho Federation of Republican Women hosted its annual spring meeting Feb. 28-March 1.

During the two-day event, North Idaho Federated Republican Women President Mary Jo Ambrosiani and Charlene Matheson, IFRW president, observed the Idaho House and Senate in action, had lunch with legislators, attended training and networked with Republican women around the state. National Federation of Republican Women President Carrie Almond of Missouri gave the keynote address.

Federation members met with Idaho Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter in his ceremonial office. Dignitaries included Lt. Governor Brad Little, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden, Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra, Controller Brandon Woolf, Sens. Shawn Keough and Patti Anne Lodge, Reps. Wendy Horman, Julie VanOrden and Gayann DeMordaunt, Idaho GOP Chair Steve Yates and Idaho GOP Executive Director David Johnston met and visited with members.

“The Idaho Federation of Republican Women came together these past few days to share the American and patriotic spirit that is sweeping across the nation,” IFRW President Charlene Matheson said. “Our Republican women are re-energized with a revitalized sense to advocate Republican excellence and standards throughout Idaho. These Idaho Republican Gems stand firm to support our President Donald J. Trump, his Cabinet selections and the movement to make America great again.”

The Idaho Federation of Republican Women promotes Republican principles and educates Republican women in the governmental process.

The federation provides assistance to local Republican women’s clubs. The North Idaho Federated Republican Women meet at 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at Holiday Inn Express, Ponderay.
