Annual chess festival on tap
SANDPOINT — Come join fellow chess enthusiasts for the one-day 26th annual Lou Domanski Chess Festival.
Formerly known as the Sandpoint Chess Festival, the event was re-named in honor of its founder and longtime coordinator Lou Domanski.
The chess tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Sandpoint Community Hall. The tournament usually concludes around 5 p.m.
There are three divisions, splitting up players by age with differing entry fees for each. An elementary age division for grades 1-6 with a $3 entry fee; a middle school/high school division for grades 7-12 with an entry fee of $4; and an open division with a $5 entry fee. Trophies will be awarded for each division.
Registration forms may be obtained at the Sandpoint Parks and Recreation office, 1123 Lake St., or online. All registration must be turned in to the Parks and Rec office by Thursday, March 23.
