Polar Plunge is set for Saturday

| March 22, 2017 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Are you going to be freezin’ for a reason this weekend?

Each year, the Polar Plunge challenges thousands of brave jumpers at various locations around Idaho. It’s a great way for everyone — individuals, schools, organizations and businesses — to get involved in supporting Special Olympics Idaho. All funds raised go toward programming and events for Special Olympics athletes statewide.

Area residents are invited to take a dip in the icy waters of Lake Pend Oreille at noon Saturday, March 25, at Sandpoint City Beach. Registration begins at 11 a.m.

Wear a costume into the lake and you can win a prize.

The Sandpoint Special Olympics athletes are holding a chili cook-off after the plunge. So bring your best pot of chili and enter to win or just come enjoy a warm bowl and heat yourself up from the inside out.
