SHS track team starts season

LEWISTON — Dana Beaty, Niah Brass, Yeo Yarnell and Katherine Kaul teamed up to finish second in the distance medley relay, leading the Bulldog track team at the 15 team season opening meet in Lewiston on Saturday.

Having been confined to gym workouts so far this spring, the Bulldogs still had some strong early showings, led by third place long jumps from Spencer Bassett and Maddie Morgan, a fourth place pole vault by Cole Hooper, a fourth place finish in the 100 by Jazmin Stockton, a fifth place triple jump by Bassett and fifth place finish in the 3,200 by Kaul.

Stockton teamed up with Valerie Wickboldt, Heather Yunek and Beaty to finish third in the medley relay, while Stockton, Wickboldt, Bailee Klopman and Taitam Bowen were third in the 4X100.

Robbie Johnson, Garrett Chandler, Julian Barajas and Tyren Witthaus teamed up for fifth in the 4X200 relay to lead the boys sprinters.

Other top 10 finishes turned in by Sandpoint included Kali Scheel (6th in 1,600), Yunek (6th in 400), Ammon Ollerton (6th in high jump), Stockton (7th in 200), Slade Rucker (7th in pole vault), Grace Bradley (7th in triple jump), Sawyer Seley (8th in high jump), Ephraim Weisz (8th in 3,200), Elaine Huang (8th in high jump), Heather Wallace (8th in 1,600), Wickboldt (8th in 200), Niah Brass (9th in 3,200) and Teagan Dieter (10th in 400).

The Bulldogs are at Lewiston on Saturday.
