'A Novel Night' isn't your average gala

| March 24, 2017 1:00 AM

The Rotary Club of Sandpoint’s A Novel Night Gala takes place on Saturday, May 6 at 5 p.m. at the Columbia Bank building. Benefiting Your Library Transformation, the event will feature a unique literary theme with guests encouraged to dress or accessorize as their favorite book character.

The evening begins with “Literary Libations,” a cocktail hour sponsored by The 219 Lounge with specialty drinks like Tequila Mockingbird and Fuzzy Novel. KRFY community radio will be on site broadcasting live throughout the event. A gourmet dinner catered by Tango Café will be served at 6 p.m. followed by a dessert auction with treats crafted by local culinary artisans.

A unique, literary-themed centerpiece created by Rotary members, library staff and trustees, and Friends of the Library will adorn each table to be raffled off at the end of the program. Auctioneer Curt Hagen will host the live auction featuring unique experiences, art and packages. Emcees Dyno Wahl and Craig Hofmeister will introduce a special appearance by renowned author Jennifer Leo.

Guests can peruse over 30 silent auction items including gift baskets from local nonprofits with themes that tell the story of their organization. The Sandpoint Friends of the Library will host a fun Mystery Book Bag sale with high quality books by genre in canvas bags. Gift certificates to local shops and restaurants are randomly stuffed in some of the bags. The Rotary Club of Sandpoint’s wine wall similarly features mystery bottles of wine with a chance to discover a high value bottle. The evening closes with DJ music and dancing.

Tickets are on sale now at novelnightgala.org through EventBrite. Individual tickets are $75 with premier sponsor tables for eight at $1,000 and 10 for $1,250.
