We would like to thank Sen. James Risch for introducing the Scotchman Peak’s Wilderness legislation to Congress and we support this designation. Our family and extended family has lived in the Hope area since 1936. Over the years our families have enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, snowshoeing and camping in many of the areas that are available to all of us in North Idaho. We are fortunate to live in an area that has so many recreational opportunities to choose from.

The Scotchman’s Peak area is unique and has always been treated with great respect by not only the Native Americans, but also the first white men who arrived here. That respect has continued on for many generations. The Scotchman’s area is in pristine condition and should remain so - as a wilderness designation. This will guarantee that it will be there for our grandchildren and future generations to enjoy.

We appreciate the amount of planning, study and research that has been done by the Forest Service and the members of the Scotchman’s Peak organization. We do not believe that it needs to be redrawn. The legislation should move forward as proposed.
