Hathaway, Icardo lead Wampus Cats at district track meet

CLARK FORK — Freshman Sara Hathaway won the high jump, 100 hurdles and 100 meters, and Nona Young (shot) and Dustie Jackman (long jump) also picked up wins to lead the Wampus Cat girls to a second place finish on Tuesday during the 1A Division II Track and Field Championships in Clark Fork.

Hathaway edged teammate Emily Garman in the 100 hurdles, as the pair hit the final hurdle at the same time when Garman hit the final hurdle. Nonetheless, both managed to hit PRs at the their home meet, as each has beaten the other this season.

Max Icardo clocked personal bests in the 110 high hurdles (16.94) and 300 hurdles (44.6) and won the triple jump in a strong showing, freshman Mathis Heisel won the 3,200 and freshman Josh Constantine won the high jump to lead the Wampus Cat boys to a third place finish.

Clark Fork is at the Regionals on May 12 at Kootenai High School, where they will compete for state berths.
