1. Having seen and experienced the discord over issues in the Lake Pend Oreille School District, I stepped up to run to help heal the division to create a bright and sustainable future for our students and the citizens.

2. The trustee position requires the ability to work with people and come to consensus even when there are differences. I have extensive board member experience that is so important in that regard. In addition, I volunteer my time to serve on the local organizations.

3. Experience, wisdom, leadership, and commitment to serve our students and the community.

4. • Bring back vocational training to our schools. • Oversee required maintenance and/or replacement of the LPOSD facilities. • Bring the citizens of our district together to work for the best schools and education possible through improved communication and accessibility.

5. These are all important goals, but the vocational training is particularly important to the health of our community as a whole.

6. Ready for Kindergarten Program and the Angels Over Sandpoint Backpack Program. I was a regular volunteer in my children’s classrooms, served on the board of the PTO, and on the Principal’s Advisory Board. This past year I have attended several school board meetings and the levy presentations.

7. There are 22 powers and duties of the board specified in Policy No. 1200 http://bit.ly/2qTSqfH

My observation shows that the amount of time required varies throughout the year. I am willing to devote whatever time is required.

8. New curriculum is needed that benefits learning, not just teaching to pass a test. More focus on those students who are not going on to college. They need to have skills necessary to enter into the workforce after graduation, including trade vocations, apprenticeships, and on the job training programs.

9. U.S. New and World Report rated Sandpoint High School as number two in the state of Idaho. However, the College Readiness (district average) Index is at 26 out of 100. Too many students are underserved by our school’s curriculum. We should do better, and our students deserve better.

10. If anyone has criticism of my views on the issues please contact me directly to discuss.

11. Become engaged in the community; learn about the district’s needs and issues and then go to the polls on May 16 to vote.

12. The school district is the largest employer in the county, with a $31 million budget — do you have the breadth of experience, the wisdom, and the commitment to serve a four-year term? Yes, I do.
