Clark Fork sophomore Brooke Stevens shot a 107 today during day one of the 2A state golf tournament at Jefferson Hills Golf Course in Rigby. It’s tough to be the lone representative for your school, with no teammates to lean on or pass to, but Stevens handled the pressure of state golf well, placing in the top half of the field at 18th. It will take a career round on day two for her to move up and crack the top 10 and medal, but she’s getting a great experience that will serve her well in the coming years. “Brooke played much better on the back nine. She played much looser, and drove the ball better,” described coach Brian Arthun, who feels Stevens in primed to drop some strokes. “She’s a very competitive kid, and I’m sure she’ll come out tomorrow and crush it.”
