I am thinking about how dramatic the derailment in Cocolalla is. I have never seen an accident of that magnitude up close and am shocked. But as practical considerations settle in, such as Mr. Gueeron’s concern about dust, I can’t help but wonder about safety along that stretch of highway after the clean-up is completed. It is the first spot offering passing, heading south and everyone speeds up there. The amount of wildlife drawn to the bounty of free food should be extraordinary.

All of us, driving through that area in the next couple of months should certainly be extra alert. Every animal that would eat corn, from mice to moose, will be crossing that highway.

Drive safely.
