PIONEER ATTIRE FOR BANK CENTENNIAL

Press cameras flashed as Mayor Floyd Gray and Idaho First National manager Howard Faux snipped the ribbon to open the bank for business May 15, when Idaho First National Bank began its second 100 years of operation in Idaho.

Faux and all male branch employees were attired in high collars, stiff white shirts, broad ties and dark suits featuring long tails. Women employees dressed in gowns much like their ancestors wore some 80-100 years ago. An outside daily attraction this week is an antique auto display from the collection of Les Brown.

The ever alert city policeman, with a sense of smell extending the length of a city block, happened along about then and detecting the odor and moisture of the man’s clothing promptly arrested him. Brought before Magistrate Davis, he was bound over to stand trial in the district court with bail fixed at $300.

THIRTY DAYS — TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS

M.W. McCrea and James Stanford will be guests of the county for 30 days after a decision by Judge Whitaker. The men were found floating to the leeward Friday by the sheriff’s office, with about three sheets to the breeze. A fine, in addition to the jail sentence, was awarded the gentlemen and in the event of a financial stringency the county will continue to board them and allow them the sum of $2 per day to tide them over the embarrassment.
