LEGAL NOTICE As of May 21, 2017, estimates of adult hatchery Chinook Salmon passing Bonneville Dam and destined for the Salmon/Clearwater Rivers were far less than anticipated. Historically, more than 96% of passage of Salmon/Clearwater Spring Chinook Salmon is complete by May 21. The Idaho Dept. of Fish & Game has concluded adult hatchery returns, and potential hook and release mortalities of natural origin Chinook, justify season closures. Pursuant to Idaho Code 36-106(e)(6)(A), the Idaho Dept. of Fish & Game hereby closes the Mainstem Clearwater, North Fork Clearwater, Middle Fork Clearwater, South Fork Clearwater, Lower Salmon and Little Salmon Rivers to harvest of Chinook Salmon, effective the end of fishing on May 24, 2017.
