Sandpoint swimmers win medals at Northern Games

SANDPOINT — A host of Sandpoint Special Olympic swimmers won medals recently at the Northern Summer Regional Games, held recently at the Tribal Wellness Center in Plummer. The swimming was one of many different events, taking place throughout the Idaho Panhandle.

Eliyah Allen, a newcomer to the swim team, placed 2nd in the 15 meter flotation and the 15 meter freestyle. Kevin Collins placed 4th in the 25 meter freestyle and the 50 meter freestyle.

Beverly Hudson, also a newcomer to the swim team and the youngest team member at age 8, placed 2nd in the 25 meter freestyle and 1st in the 15 meter freestyle. Bob Liechtman placed 2nd in the 10 meter assisted swim and 1st in the 15 meter flotation event.

Ashley Lengyel placed 1st in the 25 meter butterfly and the women’s 25 meter freestyle. Mallory Gilchrist placed first in the 15 meter women’s freestyle and 4th in the 25 meter freestyle. And Scott Stephenson placed 1st in the men’s 25 meter freestyle and the 50 meter freestyle.
