Suzen C. Flathers, 71

Suzen C. Flathers, 71, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private family services will be held later.

Suzen was born on March 8, 1946, in Moscow, Idaho, to Dean and Nona Wilde.

She grew up and attended schools in Kellogg, Idaho, and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1964. Her father was killed in a plane accident, and her mother remarried Gerry Peterson.

She married Louie Korakis in 1965, and he was later killed in a work-related accident. She married James Flathers on April 15, 1972, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. There she owned “Little Sprout” children’s clothing store, and a chocolate and gift store. She then worked for 15 years at the University of Idaho Department of Education.

She and Jim retired to Lake Cocolalla in 2008, and then moved to Sandpoint in 2015.

She enjoyed skiing, camping, back packing, archery, computers and needle work.

She is survived by her husband Jim Flathers of Sandpoint; two sons, Shawn (Dory) Flathers of Coeur d’ Alene, and Brian Korakis of Boise; five grandchildren, Carter and Shelby Flathers, Kinsley Flathers, Brielle Wilson, and Austin Wiseman; two brothers, Ken (Pauline) Wilde of Liberty Lake, Wash., and David (Tina) Wilde of Athol, Idaho; and a sister, Nancy (Larry) Huettig of Twin Falls, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Gerry Peterson.
