Event harnesses the power of community

| November 3, 2017 1:00 AM

Giving Tuesday is an annual global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is on November 28th. It kicks off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support. For library champions, Giving Tuesday is a 24-hour celebration of our community’s commitment to making Your Library Transformation happen.

Our goal this year is raise $2,400 in 24 hours. We are promoting our Granite level donation tier, a $5 donation which recognizes the donor or the name of someone they would like to honor in a bookplate inside the cover of a book in The Library’s collection of the donor’s choice. Additionally, we are partnering with several local businesses who have offered their support by throwing in swag for prizes and giveaways. More on those details as we get closer to Giving Tuesday.

The Sandpoint Friends of the Library are going to match your donations, dollar for dollar, up to $1,500 through the end of the year. But, our $2,400 goal is just for one day. So, save the date on your calendar — Tuesday, Nov. 28 — to have a part in a global campaign that benefits your own community and Your Library Transformation.

An individual taxpayer’s contribution to a public library is allowed as an itemized deduction on the federal return and on the Idaho State return. In addition, the taxpayer receives an Idaho tax credit for the contribution. This credit is also available to corporations who make a charitable contribution to a public library or library district located in Idaho. Partnership benefits are available for contributions toward Your Library Transformation. Visit ebonnerlibrary.org for details. For more information on donations, please contact Denise at the Library District at 208-263-6930 Ext. 1205.
