Janice Marlene Murphy, 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Meridian, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint with Pastor Steve Michael of Community United Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, officiating. She will be buried with her parents, Kermit and Fern Bergman, at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Janice was born on Oct. 4, 1940, in Sandpoint to Kermit and Fern Bergman. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in the class of 1959.
She married Ed Murphy on Sept. 19, 1959, in Sandpoint. The family lived in the mountains of Montana and Idaho where Ed was a logger. They moved to Post Falls, Idaho, in 1976 and Janice operated a home maintenance business.
She is a member of Community United Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene. Throughout her life she enjoyed religious studies, doll collecting, journalism, genealogy, visiting with her family, cross-country skiing with her grandkids, photography and huckleberry picking.
She is survived by her husband, Ed Murphy now of Merid-ian; a son, Pat Murphy (wife Janna) of Post Falls; a daughter, Dawn Murphy (husband Jim Stroo) of Merid-ian; six grandchildren, Brandi Murphy, Riane Murphy, Robyn (Jesse) Austin, Neil (Kathryn) Wheeler, Kerry Murphy, and Brenn (Corey) Martin; two great-grandchildren, Everett Austin and Ian Wheeler; her brothers, Jack (Carolyn) Bergman of Sandpoint, Wendel (Beverly) Bergman of Hope, Idaho, and Michael (Sharon) Bergman of Athena, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Donald, Alan, Darrel, and Baby Boy Bergman.
