Man faces kidnapping, theft charges

POST FALLS — A 26-year-old transient who was on the run for two weeks after being accused of tying up two residents while armed with a knife and stealing valuable items has been arrested.
Post Falls Police Detective Neil Uhrig said Brandon Cody Marlow was arrested last week at Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley after a patient there saw him in the emergency area and recognized him from media reports.
"This was a case of the public looking out for us," Uhrig said.
Uhrig said it's unclear why Marlow, accused of stealing gold and silver coins, cash, cellphones and a 2016 Toyota Highlander from a male and female on Oct. 11 at a Post Falls home in the 300 block of S. Riverside Harbor Drive, was at the hospital.
After Post Falls Police was contacted about Marlow being spotted, representatives from the Spokane County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals Service arrested the suspect without incident.
Uhrig then responded to interview Marlow, who declined to speak with the detective.
Marlow is being held at the Spokane County Jail. He was wanted on a $250,000 warrant for one count each of kidnapping and robbery, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of grand theft with an enhancement added to the charges for being convicted of two previous felonies.
"Thankfully the public was looking for him as well," Uhrig said. "We don't deal with these violent cases often, so we were lucky to be notified when we were."
According to Post Falls Police, Marlow, who most recently lived in Coeur d'Alene, knows the alleged victims.
Police said Marlow allegedly had an argument with the victims, demanded that they sit down so he could tie them up and took what he could that was valuable from them.
The victims complied with Marlow's alleged demands because he had a steak knife, police said.
The victims were not injured. The male freed himself after about 45 minutes before going to a neighbor's home to call 911. Police then freed the female, according to police.
Marlow allegedly used electrical cords and tape to tie the victims' hands.
Marlow was on felony probation and has a criminal history that includes drugs, weapons possession, theft and burglary. He was recently released from prison on parole.
