Alice Reese Hazen, 84

Alice Reese Hazen, 84, passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, in Sandpoint, Idaho. She will be laid to rest in Pennsylvania.

Alice was born on Dec. 13, 1932, in New Castle, Pa., to Ernest and Martha Reese. She grew up and attended schools in New Castle.

She married James Hazen on July 17, 1958, in Virginia and they had a daughter, Stacey.

Alice worked as a secretary in the school and in doctor’s offices. Later in life she earned her nursing degree from the Shenango Valley Campus of Penn State University. She worked as a licensed practical nurse in retirement homes and in private homes.

She retired in 1988 and moved to Libby, Mont., and in 2015 to Sandpoint.

She enjoyed animals, her dogs, camping and fishing.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Hazen of Sandpoint; daughter Stacey Hazen of Trout Creek, Mont.; grandson Nate Holmes of Angora, Minn.; and a brother, William Reese of Chattanooga, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
