SANDPOINT — Concerts and Contra Dances, veterans’ celebrations and Warren Miller ski films — it’s a bountiful harvest of activity this week in Our Fair City. If you’re tempted to go farther afield, check out the concerts and films up in Bonners Ferry at the Pearl Theater and be sure to take in the free Fall Folk Festival all weekend in Spokane.
Music lovers will have a field day, with great live sounds all over town.

Thursday, Nov. 9
Andy Hackbarth
Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Award-winning classical/Spanish/fingerstyle guitar virtuoso Andy Hackbarth pays tribute to the ‘Father of the Classical Guitar,’ Andres Segovia, through instrumental selections and short stories about Segovia’s life and music. This eclectic musical journey transports listeners from the music of Bach and the cathedrals of Germany to the hills of Spain and the work of Albeniz and Tarrega, from classical Europe to the southern tip of South America.

Friday, Nov. 10
Veterans Celebration
Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7 p.m.
An evening to celebrate and show appreciation for the service of veterans of America’s armed forces. In addition to the movie ‘Faith of Our Fathers,’ there will be patriotic music. This is a fundraiser for the five local veteran groups, with 100 percent of the donations going to them.
Admission: Free and open to the public, with free will donations gladly accepted.
Sandpoint Contra Dance
Venue: Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave., in Sandpoint.
Time: 7-10 p.m.
Celebrate the joys of community by dancing with friends — those you already know and the new ones you’re about to meet! Live music will be provided by ‘Red Herring’ and all dances are called by Emily Faulkner. Previous dancing experience is not necessary. First-time dancers are encouraged to arrive on time for an introductory dance at 7 pm. Bring clean, comfortable, non-marking shoes to dance in.

‘In My Life’: Beatles Tribute

This annual music festival, presented by the Spokane Folklore Society, is packed with performers from every genre and style imaginable, from soloists to full bands, dance groups to international fare on multiple stages. Plus, lots of impromptu jams apart from the scheduled performers. A very cool, family friendly event you don’t want to miss.

Spokane Symphony Pops: ‘The Mambo Kings’
