The Inside Edge - Ski Swap on Saturday

Who’s in the mood for skiing? There’s 34 inches at Schweitzer thus far, and more scheduled this week. With cold temperatures, the nine snow guns are adding to the mix. The potential for an early opening keeps growing. Don’t delay, get that gear in order.

n World Cup — Action resumes next weekend with Slalom competition in Levi, Finland.

n Ski Swap — The perfect start place for Winter preparation is the annual Ski Swap. Trade out that old gear and look for something different. Don’t need skis? Then browse through racks of new and used clothing, helmets and goggles. SARS will be hosting the Ski Swap at the Bonner County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Nov. 11 so come find that great deal. Equipment turn in for sale will be during the afternoon on Friday, Nov 10. There will be a small consignment fee for items sold. Sales will be Saturday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Pick-up for unsold items and checks will be between 5-7 p.m. on Saturday. Entry costs $2 per person, or $5 for a family.

n A Sandpoint Classic — Warren Miller Returns. This year’s show, brought to you by the Alpine Shop, will be on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. The event will include prize drawings during intermission, a silent auction, and drawings for the “Independence Racing Team Super Outdoors Raffle,” which is currently underway. The raffle features six major prizes, including a Schweitzer unlimited season pass, Mountain Gear camping package, six course golfing package for two, Ronix wakeboard, cruiser bike from Greasy Fingers, and a week stay at Holiday Shores. So bring a few extra bucks and win big. Advance show tickets are available at the Alpine Shop for $12.

n Junior Race Series sign-up — This popular series features free coaching, lots of prizes, lots of kids and lots of fun. Racers meet four Friday evenings in January from 5:30-7 p.m. Entry forms can be found at the Alpine Shop and Sandpoint Sports, plus they will be available at the Warren Miller show.
