Sweet Lou's giving back to U.S. veterans

| November 10, 2017 12:00 AM

PONDERAY — Sweet Lou’s restaurants are saluting our troops by offering all current and former members of the U.S. armed forces a free, hand-cut, six-ounce, USDA choice top sirloin with one side on Veterans Day.

“This was the least we could do,” Chad Foust, owner of Sweet Lou’s, said. “They have sacrificed to serve the country, now it’s our turn to serve them.”

This will be the seventh year Foust is offering a free steak to veterans, and in Ponderay the tradition has been a success.

“It’s great watching service men and women coming in proudly in their uniforms and exchanging their stories,” said Foust.

“It’s even better when other customers greet them and thank them for their service.”

This will be the first year the promotion will be offered in their new location — Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Tap House — in Coeur d’Alene.

“We are thrilled to expand the offer in Coeur d’Alene,” said Foust. “We’re hoping to get the opportunity to serve as many service members as possible.”

To redeem your Veterans Day special, you must present valid military ID. The offer is good for dine-in only and will only be available on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Bar is located at 477272 Hwy 95 in Ponderay and Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Tap House is at 601 N Front St. Both locations are open seven days a week from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
