Brown selected as 'Sailor of the Year'

EO1 Jason D. Brown, formerly of Sandpoint; has been awarded the honor of Sailor of the Year.

Jason was born in Sandpoint in 1977, and attended schools here locally; graduating in 1998.

Jason is the son of Linda and Gary Vanhorn of Kootenai.

His grandparents are Darrell and Ellena Brown of Sandpo;int and Sally Dutson of Bonners Ferry

He married Debin Pate of Sandpoint and has a daughter Sidney.

Jason has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Japan, Guam, and his last tour was in Europe.

This award was due to his outstanding service for the Navy and his knowledge and repairing of machinery.

Jason is stationed in Gulf Port, Mississippi and now has a home there.

His family and friends want to congratulate him on this huge achievement.
