Cedar Hills, VFW team up on firewood project

| November 11, 2017 12:00 AM

Chain saws are buzzing and splitters are splitting each year, during the fall, at the VFW wood lot. Each year, local VFW Post 2453 members cut, split, and stack firewood, which is offered, free of charge, to our veterans for winter heating.

For the last two years, volunteers from Cedar Hills Church have shown up with chain saws, splitters, and lots of people to assist the VFW with this project. Students from the Turning Winds School in Montana also pitched in this year to split the wood by hand. Pitching in to supply this wood is one of several CHC Serve Sandpoint projects, an outreach program providing service to the community.

For information about obtaining wood, contact VFW Commander Larry Pedersen at the VFW office, 208-263-9613. To join CHC’s volunteer team, contact the church at 208-265-8500.

Team members wished to thank the Pack River General Store for providing free coffee for this event.
