Mrs. Joe Brisboy, assisted by Mrs. Earl Sheffler and Mrs. Ed Brisboy, gave a birthday party to honor Charlene Sheffler on her ninth birthday. Guests were Kim Eich, Rosilee Wagner, Kathy Dockins, Polly Hawkins, Sharyl Halliday, Pam Bradetich, Mindi McCormick, Nancy Corish, Debbie Brisboy, Joan Casper, Irene Turnbull, Jimmie and Gayle Brisboy.

CLARK FORK TEAM MORALE HIGH

Although the Clark Fork football team lost five of its seven games this season, members evidenced excellent participation and spirit. Four bright spots in spirit development were cheerleaders Cathy Gunderson, Diane Brashear, Cathy Frymire and Carolyn Gleason. The senior girls’ unflagging leadership never conceded a single ball game.

PRECIPITATION SO FAR THIS YEAR

Last summer’s drought fostered conditions that gave Northern Idaho its worst forest fire season in half a century. May was the first dry month, with .76 inches reported. June was wetter, with 2.21 inches. July added .39 of an inch and the dry summer was in progress. August went down as a blank, with September little better, having .32 of an inch. Nothing really changed until October, when the first three days brought 1.01 inches.

The time between rainfall of any benefit was 64 days, with 55 days between measureable rainfall.

Nov. 12, 1917 — Y.M.C.A. DRIVE

In the next week the people of the United States will contribute $35,000,000 to the work of the Young Men’s Christian Association for erecting what are known as Y.M.C.A. huts on the front line trenches in Europe as well as in the various cantonments in the United States. Used as recreation centers, the buildings are open to all religious denominations.

The amount asked from this county is small. We are asked to contribute $1800 to this cause. The committee in charge is confident that the amount assigned will be gladly contributed.

CLARKSFORK NEWS

Born, Saturday, to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brashear, a boy. Mother and son are doing nicely.

Mary Bixel is spending her week’s vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bixel.

FALLS CREEK TO BUILD CONCENTRATOR

Manager W.C. Ames has finished negotiations for erecting a 50-ton concentrating mill at the Falls Creek mine, which will be pushed to completion as fast as weather conditions permit.

An analysis has found that the ores require a comparatively simple treatment and the mill for the present will consist of crusher, rolls, a ball mill and tables. Plans are such that the capacity of the mill can be readily enlarged when desired.
