SASi calendar celebrates seniors

| November 18, 2017 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Area Seniors, Inc. is celebrating the many wonderful people over the age of 90 in the community with a calendar.

Called “Nine Over Ninety and More,” the calendar celebrates those who hit 90 years young and more.

With several folks at SASi and area elder care centers who have hit that landmark (and are are still going strong), SASI executive director Ellen Weissman wanted to celebrate them. The idea was launched after Weissman met Erval Rainey, her first 90-plus senior. Then she met Janet Vetter and noticing how many others at SASi were either over 90 or very close.

The idea for the calendar was officially born and SASi teamed up with Bob Abbott, Bonner County EMS public information officer, and paired the elders with EMS folks and photographed them in different activities at the Sandpoint Senior and DayBreak centers. “For fundraising purposes, we thought this is something that hasn’t been done in all of the years SASi has been around,” said Weissman. “It will be on sale in time for the holiday season and will make a perfect gift!”
