I just want to give a shout out to the city of Ponderay and Friends of the Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail for a memorable event in September.

Ponderay Neighbor Day was a fun, family friendly festival that had a great community vibe. The organizers provided so many free activities for kids that it was impossible for families not to enjoy themselves. While the hot air balloon provided a gee whiz element to the festivities, the fact that the wind shut down operations didn’t detract from all the other great things that were happening behind the Hoot Owl. The event also gave people a chance to learn about efforts to connect Ponderay to the lake with a railroad underpass.

I wish the city and the Friends success in this endeavor, and hope they’ll consider hosting Ponderay Neighbor Day again in the future.
