SHS XC team announces 2017 season awards

(Photo by SAYDEE BRASS) Senior Dutton Rogers posted a robust 4.289 GPA, winning both captain and academic awards for the Bulldogs.

SANDPOINT — The Bulldog cross country team held its season ending awards banquet recently, with the following students earning distinction:

n Captain Awards (year-round leadership and service to the team): Dutton Rogers, Kyle Almeida, Katherine Kaul and Hannah Davidson.

n Most Valuable Runner: Kaul (4th time winning this award), Davidson and Ephriam Weisz

n William Johnson Award (team spirit and inspiration): Farli Boden and Cole Dillon.

n Most Improved Runner: Elizabeth Kempton and Garrett Pierce.

n Coaches’ Awards (exemplary teammates, leadership, commitment and coachability): Sharon Rowe, Kali Scheel, Niah Brass, Ciera Bailey, Peik Lund-Andersen, Sloan Woodward and Kieran Wilder.

n Academic Award (highest GPA): Kaul, 4.523 (highest in team history) and Rogers, 4.289.

Coaches Matt and Angie Brass were pleased to announce that both the varsity boys and girls team received Outstanding Team Academic Awards and almost all received Distinguished Scholastic Individual Awards. The girls varsity team posted a unweighted 3.81 GPA, while the boys GPA was 3.57, exemplifying the meaning of student-athletes.
