Acid rain, toxic snow, air pollution are not reasons why I moved to Bonner County. However, these destructive forces may all be brought to our homes by the proposed silicon smelter plant in Newport, Wash.
They claim new jobs and community prosperity, but at what cost? These new jobs may come with enormous health risks to workers, residents, and guests. Furthermore, I fear that more jobs will be lost than created as fewer people will want to visit or move to an area with toxic air, rain, rivers, and lakes. Please attend the meeting at Newport Middle School this Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 6-8 p.m. Help save Bonner County.
