SANDPOINT — Kelly Horning and Emily Kladar combined to hammer 23 kills, leading Coeur d’Alene to a 22-25, 25-12, 25-9, 25-23 win over Sandpoint on Tuesday night in nonleague volleyball at Les Rogers Court.

Taylin Rowley tallied 16 assists and seven digs, Sam Swayze nine digs and three aces and Lauren Phillips 11 assists and three aces for the Vikings (15-9), who dominated the action in the second and third sets.

“Our young girls are really stepping up,” praised Vikings head coach Dee Pottenger.

Shelby Kluver had a team-high nine kills to lead the Bulldogs (11-16) in defeat, as they struggled to start the offense and build rhythm for stretches of the second and third sets, while playing strong in the first and last.

“They came out strong,” claimed Bulldog head coach Erin Roos of her team. “It’s just been maintaining confidence and playing error free. When our passing is on, we do well. Jenny and Jaz (Stockton) had a nice night hitting.”

Grace Hicks finished with six kills, five blocks and four aces, Jenny Slaveck added seven kills, Grace Kirscher four blocks, Kaitlan Ward 11 digs and Marina Breuner two aces in the loss.

Sandpoint is at Lewiston on Saturday.
