Erin, aka Marvin Johnson Joye Jr., Nez Perce tribal member, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Roxie (Wood) Critchell, and Alice (Rich) and Marvin Johnson Joye Sr.; his brothers, Jesse Edwin Critchell, and Frank Ebling Jr.; and his sisters, Dorothy F. Payne and Eileen Joye. He is survived by his sisters, Carol Jensen, Molly Alexander, and Leigh Ann Purmerdoff; his brothers, Tom White and Darrin Piper; his daughters, Katrina and Kimberly Sawhill; a son, Justin; and grandsons, Spencer and Bradlee Sawhill.

He was a hard worker with the mind of an engineer and was always willing to help a friend in need.

He lived a full, varied, unique life filled with friends, good times and no regrets (except for not being closer to his family). He was the life of the party and had a funny side to him.

He loved fishing, hiking, traveling, beading and making hemp necklaces.

He was a gentle, kind and loving person. He had a generous, tender heart and was very affectionate. He was a shiny little boy that grew into a sunshine of a man.

There will be a service for him on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Ahsahka Indian Presbyterian in Ahsahka, Idaho.
