LEWISTON — Six of the seven Sandpoint varsity runners notched top 20 finishes, showing the depth that makes them one of the top 4A teams in the state on Saturday while beating 15 other teams at the Inland Empire Challenge in Lewiston.

The boys team finished third among 22 schools, with three runners claiming top 20 finishes. Sandpoint finished with 25 personal records on the day, and now will take the next two weeks to prepare for the upcoming Regional Championships.

The Bulldog girls scored 55 points to edge Colville and Post Falls. The depth continues to be impressive, winning even with varsity runners Katherine Kaul and Heather Wallace sitting out recovering from injuries.

Hannah Davidson placed 2nd overall and first for the team, running a 19:12 over the 5K course. Niah Brass was next with a 19:54, placing 9th out of the 118 runners in the race. The girls once again proved their depth, winning the race even as Sharon Rowe and Corina Wallace stepped into the Varsity race.

In the boys JV, Sandpoint took 2nd to Southridge. The boys were led by Seth Graham, who placed 3rd in a time of 17:38 out of the 189 runners in the race.
