Upland site upgrade resurfacing
SANDPOINT — A plan to improve an existing solid waste collection site off Upland Drive is slated for consideration by the Bonner County Planning & Zoning Commission next month.
The commission is conducting a public hearing on Thursday, Nov. 2 for a conditional use permit for the upgrade. It starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Bonner County Administration Building.
The county’s permit application proposes a 120-square foot attendant’s station and a 100-square-foot household hazardous materials storage buildings. The site would have approximately a dozen 8-cubic-yard Dumpsters, in addition to a rack for free items.
The county estimates approximately 100 vehicles and 75 vehicles will access the site in the summer and winter, respectively, according to the permit application.
The site and its access road would be hard-surfaced and site-obscuring fencing, in addition to a landscaped buffer, would be utilized.
“This collection site upgrade will offer a valuable public service to the area,” the permit application said. “The current site is dirty, unsightly and in generally poor condition. “A paved asphalt pad, landscape buffer and fencing will enhance the area.”
A staff report on the proposal will be posted to the department’s portion of the county website (bonnercounty.us) a week before the hearing.
