Oct. 22, 1967 — CITY IN BRIEF

Colburn School chili feed, Saturday, Oct. 28, serving 5 to 8 p.m. All you can eat for 50 cents.

Dr. and Mrs. W.T. Shick of Spokane spent three days at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C.C. Wendle at Wendlemere. Dr. Shick made several catches of kokanee during their stay.

BOY SCOUTS HIKE HISTORIC TRAIL

Eleven Boy Scouts from troops 111 and 101 hiked the 23-mile David Thompson fur trader trail from the old Seneacquoteen ferry landing at Laclede to Rathdrum stage depot last weekend. The trail, also known as the Wild Horse trail and the Senacquoteen trail, figured historically in the development of Northern Idaho. The Scouts from troop 101 were Wayne Brown and Kevin Sawyer. Those from troop 111 were Allan and Rick Largent, Frank and Mark Lyons, Rick and Jack Chaney, Chuck Moore and Lonnie Piehl.

Oct. 22, 1917 — PROCLAMATION

“Now, therefore, I, C.F. Ewing, mayor of the city of Sandpoint, hereby proclaim October 24, 1917 as Liberty Loan Day in the city of Sandpoint, and call upon all citizens to join in its observance. It is requested that all stores, offices and business houses close at 12 o’clock noon and that the business men of the city, as well as all citizens, participate in the parade and exercises to be held in the afternoon. Let us all join in making the loan a success. C.F. EWING, Mayor.”

Mrs. W. MacDonald left over the Northern Pacific this morning for Charlotte, N.C., to join her husband, who is a musician in a military band in training at Camp Green.

Andrew Christenson, E.H. Aaron, A.W. Bowen, W.F. Whitaker and E.D. Farmin are the representatives from Sandpoint to the Y.M.C.A. War Work convention in Spokane today.

HOPE NEWS

The first snow of the year was in evidence on the mountain tops near Hope this week. This is an indication of an early winter.

The Boy Scouts are carrying on an extended campaign for the sale of liberty bonds.
